Shopping Portals

You can earn miles, and cash back, for online activity

We talked about it on the podcast, and it’s worth noting, that if you shop online then you can earn flexible points, miles and cash back. This is a bonus for activity you were going to do anyway.

Amazon-check. WalMart-absolutely. Kohl’s-you bet. Even places like InstaCart, AARP, Marriott…the list goes on and on.

You’ve probably seen a few commercials from Rakuten. They have put some of their advertising revenue to work lately. They are one of the larger shopping portals available. What sets them apart is they give you an option of what you want to earn-either cash back OR American Express Membership Rewards Points! If you are earning those through credit card spend, then Rakuten is an excellent way to add to your stash.

I will ad a few of our referral links that can get you started with some of the top portals. Each one processed their payments a bit differently. You may receive an automatic PayPal payment every 4 months, or they may wait until you have at least $10 before you will get your payout. Details can be found on each home page.

My rule of thumb when you begin each shopping session-start at https://www.cashbackmonitor.com. This is a clearinghouse of sorts, that shows what you can earn at the various sites, including airline shopping portals and credit card options like Chase and CapitalOne. From there, you just click through to the one you chose. Easy peasy.

Quick note-when you shop through a portal, be careful not to close that window or hop to another one while looking at items. The portals track your shopping by the window you open. So if you mess with that, you may lose your ability to earn.

Happy shopping!
