Great sign up bonus-FIVE Free Night Awards! Act now!
As I’ve said before, most people have a side hustle that would qualify them for a business credit card. You may not realize it, but selling on eBay, Etsy, the Marketplace, repairing cars for others, or any other income related hobby can open the door to more miles and points. You don’t need an EIN, you can apply with your SS#.
If you’re ready to branch out, then this might be the card for you. I recommend this card after you have at least one Chase Ink card OR if you are a frequent Marriott traveler. The new welcome bonus is a doozy, plus it comes with a decent annual fee and a free night each year. If you have travel plans in mind that include a hotel stay for several nights, then dive into what this American Express card has to offer.
The card comes with automatic Gold Elite status. You can easily make up for the card’s $125 annual fee by using the Free Award Night that you’ll receive each year after your card renewal month (valid for 35,000 points per night-can add 15,000 more if needed. certain hotels have resort fees).
The card comes with a 7% room rate discount feature when paying with the card directly with Marriott through eligible channels, although when compared against the price of the flexible member rate, it may not always work out to be a full 7% cheaper. Plus if you have an AAA membership you may see that is the lower rate instead. While the discount is a nice feature, I wouldn’t use it as a deciding factor.
Plus, you’ll earn rewards on everyday spending:
Earn 6 points per dollar on eligible purchases at Marriott, 4 points per dollar at restaurants worldwide, at U.S. gas stations, on wireless telephone services purchased directly from U.S. service providers and on U.S. purchases for shipping and 2 points per dollar on all other eligible purchases.
And although Marriott points can be transferred to some Airlines, the transfer ratio is 3 to 1, so unless you are just topping off an account for a needed airline ticket, this is not a recommended used of your points.
